The Dominica Association of Professional Engineers (DAPE) is a non-profit organization for Dominican Engineers, student Engineers and by extension Engineering technicians who are practitioners of any one of the multiplicity of different Engineering disciplines.
The targeted objectives of the DAPE are:
- To safeguard the life, health and welfare of the public by restricting the practice of Engineering to properly qualified persons;
- To advance the status of the Engineering profession by the establishment and observance of high ethical and professional standards of conduct, the Code of Ethics and Guide to Practice under the Code of Ethics in force forming part of this By-law.
- To promote the advancement of the Engineering sciences and the proficiency, knowledge and skill of Professional Engineers;
- To advance and protect the interests of Professional Engineers;
- To co-operate and enter into mutually beneficial agreements with other associations, societies or institutions whose objectives are similar to those of the Association.
On Thursday, November 26th 2020, a new executive for the DAPE was elected to serve; the successful candidates and the position over which they are to preside for the next constitutionally allocated term are as follows:
- President: Eng. Genora Joseph
- Vice President: Eng. Edmund Laville
- Secretary: Eng. Nicole Laville
- Treasurer: Eng. Jefferson James
Committee Members are:
- Wynyard Esprit
- Jason Timothy
Notably, Dr. Genora Joseph is the first woman to hold the position of President of the Dominica Association of Professional Engineers. This is indeed an accomplishment not just for her, but for young women and girls aspiring to become leaders in the technical field in Dominica.
Foremost on the agenda of the new executive is garnering new membership and rekindling the flames of its current members; As such, all Engineers within Dominica who are not registered Members of DAPE are kindly asked to do so.
